The Three Powerful Words My Daughter Said That Made Me Stop in My Tracks – As Seen In the Huffington Post

If you have school-aged kids, you can probably relate to this – the million things you need to do in the “Crazy Period,” or the time between when your kid gets out of school and bedtime. It’s this compressed time frame when so much needs to get done such as after school activities, homework, dinner, bath, and more. Coupled with multiple children and it can get even more chaotic.
In this recently published article in The Huffington Post, I write about one particularly frazzling day when everything seemed to be going wrong, and I felt overwhelmed. I tried multitasking but it wasn’t going well. I was barking out orders to my eldest to get things done, and the baby was being fussy.
Here’s an excerpt from the article:
“I finally threatened to take away the My Little Pony dolls, and it was then that she started her homework. Through it all, she protested while I was trying to multitask and failing miserably in the process. The dinner on the stove was burning, the baby wouldn’t eat her food, and my daughter refused to fix mistakes on her homework. I was tense, agitated and raising my voice.”
I didn’t notice how I was coming off to my kids, until my eldest called me out by saying three powerful words. That’s when I knew I had to take a step back.
