Join Read Your World Day – I’m a Co-Host, Author Sponsor, and Book Reviewer! #ReadYourWorld

The 14th annual Read Your World Day is approaching on January 29, 2026! I’ve been involved with Read Your World Day since its founding. My initial role had been as a book reviewer. Over time, I became a co-host of the event. This year, for the first time, I’m an author sponsor for my picture book, MY NAME IS AI LIN [illustrated by Yu Ting Cheng and published by Sleeping Bear Press, 2025]! A lot is going on with Read Your World Day, so see below for information on how you can participate.

What is Read Your World Day?

Read Your World, a non-profit organization, holds a mission and initiative that aligns well with Bicultural Mama. That is why I’ve always supported this organization – first as a blogger, and now as an author. In fact, I received a badge of honor for being a Super Reviewer, having reviewed books every year!

The organization’s mission and initiative states, “Together, we can change the world one book at a time.” Specifically, its “mission is to ensure that every child has access to diverse and inclusive children’s literature. By providing a wide range of books that reflect various cultures, identities, and experiences, we aim to foster literacy, empathy, and inclusivity in young readers. We believe that every child deserves to see themselves in the stories they read and to understand the world through the perspective of others.”

Read Your World accomplishes this with the following:

Read Your World Classroom Kit

The 2026 classroom kit is Building Community with Bilingual Books. This FREE kit offers resources for parents, guardians, teachers, librarians, and readers.

Read Your World states that the kits are “packed with resources to bring language and culture to life in classrooms and homes. Inside, you’ll find a colorful classroom poster, engaging lesson plans and activities to spark meaningful conversations, and practical tips for parents and educators on why bilingual books matter. The kit also includes multilingual book lists spanning Spanish, Native American, Asian, Hebrew, and more, as well as essays on the benefits of bilingual literature, strategies for reading at every age—from babies and toddlers to teens and adults—plus the popular Bilingualism is My Superpower worksheets and free posters. You’ll also find thought-provoking articles such as Bridging Cultures: The Power of Bilingual Books in Bilingual Child Month and links to the Polyglot Initiative YouTube Channel for language learning inspiration.”

Book Reviewer, Author Sponsor, and Co-Host

A big part of the Read Your World program is matching book reviewers with authors. I’m in a position where I can participate in both! This year, I will be reviewing the multicultural picture book, GIVING THANKS WITH HALMONI, written by Kathleen Choi & Sook Nyul Choi. In addition, I’m donating three of my books, MY NAME IS AI LIN, to program participants who will be reviewing them.

In addition, I have the honor once again of being a co-host of Read Your World Day! The organization states that co-hosts are “hand-selected children’s book advocates, writers, and bloggers who work with the Read Your World Team by extending the reach and spreading the word about Read Your World Day.” I’m excited to help support diversity in children’s literature!
