I’m a Read Your World Book Day Co-Host for 2025!

I’m honored to be a co-host of Read Your World Book Day for the 4th year in a row! Formerly known as Multicultural Children’s Book Day, this event still occurs at the end of January. This is when we host an amazing virtual celebration highlighting diverse books, authors, and publishers. As a co-host, I support the event and its initiatives through social media and my blog. I’ll also be participating as one of several co-hosts at the virtual event on January 30th.
Read Your World Book Day is more than just a one-day holiday to celebrate diverse KidLit. Read Your World (RYW) is a 501(c)3 non-profit. It’s mission “is to raise awareness about children’s books that celebrate diversity and inclusion, and to get more of these books into the hands of readers.”
Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen founded this non-profit children’s literacy initiative. They are two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural diverse books and authors on the market while also working to get those books to children and educators.

The Read Your World initiative includes book reviews, online and offline events, giveaways, engaging discussions, collaborations, networking, and a lively virtual party via Zoom on January 30, 2025. Everyone can join the party as both U.S. and global participants are welcome! Register for the Read Your World Virtual Party: https://readyourworld.org/virtualparty. During the party, we’ll be diving into multicultural book discussions, timely issues, and diverse recommendations. Lucky participants will win a 10-Book Bundle + Bonus Prizes! Follow #ReadYourWorld for the conversation.

Another important part of the event is assigning free diverse books to reviewers. These reviewewrs then share their thoughts across social media. In addition to being a co-host, I’m also a book reviewer. As a book reviewer, I plan on writing about the book on my Bicultural Mama blog and promoting it on social media. This is my way of supporting diverse authors and letting parents and educators know about some great multicultural books. Stay tuned for my book reviewers which will be posted before the virtual party.

All reviewers will eventually post their reviews in “The Big Giant Linky,” a resource hub on the Read Your World website showcasing book reviews and resources from the event. The link currently links to last year’s reviews. However, the link will update with the 2025 reviews on Read Your World Book Day. I hope to see you at the virtual party on January 30, 2025. It’s going to be an uplifting, inspiring event celebrating diverse children’s books and authors!
