New Year’s Time Capsule Craft #JuicyJuiceCrew #FamilyTime

As the year’s end approaches, it’s a great time for families to reflect on special memories from the past year. In our family, we write an annual holiday letter to send with our cards. The letter updates family and friends with highlights of the year for each family member We find this is a great way to keep in touch with people, especially those who live afar.
This year we decided to add a fun holiday project to our celebration. We made a fun time capsule to celebrate the highlights of the past year. The project required just a few supplies that we already had on hand. It was easy enough that even my youngest child could participate.
Here’s what you’ll need to create your very own time capsule.
New Year’s Time Capsule Craft
Materials:
Empty 48 oz (or larger) bottle of Juicy Juice
Construction paper
Glue stick or Tape
Markers
Scissors
Optional: Crafting materials such as glitter/glitter pens, stickers or gems
Step One
Gather your materials.
In the picture below, I displayed a filled juice container just to show what we started from. I emptied the juice into a pitcher, cleaned, and dried the container prior to starting the project. Regarding glue stick versus tape, I found that the tape worked best to secure the construction paper around the container. The glue stick is best for adhering any non-stick decorative embellishments.
Step Two
Use crafting materials such as glitter pens, markers or stickers to decorate your time capsule bottle.
For crafting materials, we used washable markers and stickers as these worked best for our littlest one. They drew new pictures to place into the time capsule and also decorated it with the glittery stickers.
Step Three
Once decorated, fill your bottle with things that represent your year, like ticket stubs from a football game or concert, photos, souvenirs or notes. Insert wishes and goals for the next twelve months and open the container next year or five years from now to see how many of your goals you’ve accomplished!
My girls collected items important to them to place in the time capsule Some things they wanted to insert were quite large or rigid. I explained that items needed to fit through the little round hole at the top of the container. Once they understood that, we were able to whittle down the collection. They inserted a birthday card from grandpa and grandma, an origami paper boat, a Shopkins collection brochure, and artwork.
The kids had a blast doing this New Year’s time capsule craft. Can’t wait to open the time capsule a year from now and reminisce about the past year!
