You’re Invited! MY NAME IS AI LIN Book Launch Party at Huntington Public Library

My new picture book, MY NAME IS AI LIN, releases on July 1, 2025. I’m so excited to bring this book to you. It has a lot of personal and cultural meaning, and I can’t wait for people to discover it.
Here’s a description of the book:
When Ai Lin starts school, none of her classmates can say her name. The children make several attempts, but they still cannot pronounce it properly. They ask Ai Lin if they can just call her by another name. It’s not that important, right? But Ai Lin knows the significance of her Chinese name. No, it can’t be changed. Her name is part of her identity and heritage. Her name was chosen not only for what it means, but also for how it sounds. It ties her to her family—present and past—and to its traditions.
When Ai Lin shares her family history with her classmates, they come to understand that a name can be a person’s story, special and unique. Ai Lin’s name, and all that it means and stands for, is as personal as a fingerprint, as distinct as a snowflake.
To celebrate, I’m throwing a book launch party at Huntington Public Library on Saturday, July 12th from 2:00-3:00 pm! I’ll be doing a reading, presentation, and book signing. The Friends of the Library non-profit group will be selling my book at the event. You can also purchase the book on your own at Amazon or any other bookseller and then bring it in for me to sign. After the reading and presentation, guests can do fun crafts and enjoy light refreshments that are kid-friendly.
The event is open to the public, so that means you don’t have to be a Huntington Public Library patron to attend. The library requires everyone to register. Please register at https://myhpl.libnet.info/event/13884578 for each individual (adult and/or child) attending. This will help us to get an adequate count of guests so we can order enough supplies and refreshments.
Please spread the word about my book launch party. I’d love to have a great showing there and see you all. Thank you!
