“It Came From Under the High Chair” Spanish English Picture Book

You don’t have to be in the infant or toddler stage to enjoy It Came from Under the High Chair – Salió de debajo de la silla para comer: A Mystery (in English & Spanish). It’s very entertaining for kids (and adults!) of all ages.
The bilingual thriller picture book, written by Karl Beckstrand and illustrated by Jeremy Higginbotham, features a biracial family with a Filipina mom, Pacific Islander dad, and their three children.
When food begins to disappear, the family tries to solve the mystery. Little do they know that a mischievous green blob creature has been causing the havoc. But readers are in the know. Humorous, action-oriented illustrations let kids in on the secret via clues of where the green blob is hiding. Children, like my daughter, enjoy trying to find the creature on each page.
The book also educates children by providing a Spanish and English prepositions guide at the end of the book. Spanish prepositions don’t always translate directly into English, and vice versa, so this guide is very helpful.
Thoughout the book there are also finding/counting activities. Kids can continue the fun after reading the book through the addition of online story secrets.
