Holiday Stocking Ornament Craft Using a Juice Box

The holidays may look a bit different this year but it doesn’t mean that kids can’t get into the holiday spirit. Making holiday crafts is a common activity in elementary schools. Whether your child is learning from school or at home, there are great at-home projects to get little ones excited about the holidays.
My youngest daughter and I came up with an easy and fun holiday craft that reuses an empty juice box. We used a Juicy Juice 100% juice box as we always have these on hand. I love that Juicy Juice 100% Juice contains no added sugar or high fructose corn syrup, and it’s also an excellent source of Vitamin C.
We decided to make a holiday stocking ornament to hang on the Christmas tree. As an added bonus, the stocking ornament acts as a holder for festive things like candy canes and more.
Holiday Stocking Ornament Craft Directions
- Red construction paper for the stocking
- White paper for the top of the stocking
- Any color paper to cover the juice box
- Empty juice box, cleaned and dried
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Scissors
- String
- Glue and/or Tape
2. Ask an adult to help you cut off the top of an empty juice box. Wash the inside and dry completely.
3. Use a ruler to measure a 7″W x 4.75″H rectangle on the paper that will be covering your juice box. I used a white piece of paper, but in hindsight, a darker color like black or green would have blended in better with our Christmas tree. Use a ruler to mark your measurements and then cut it out.
4. Take the paper you just cut out and wrap it around the juice box. I’d suggest using tape to secure the edge where the ends of the paper overlap.
5. Use a hole puncher to punch a hole on both of the narrow sides near the top of the juice box.
6. Take the string (about 11″ long) and insert an end into a hole and tie it. Do the same with the other end of the string and tie it into the hole on the opposite side of the box. This is the ornament hanger.
7. Using red construction paper, trace the shape of a stocking within a space that is 4″ high and at least 2″ wide to cover the width of the juice box.
8. On white paper, draw the top of the stocking so that it is about 1.5″ high x 2.5″ wide. The shape looks like a cloud.
9. Glue or tape the white part of the stocking to the top of the juice box.
10. You’re now ready to use your craft! Fill it with candy canes so it becomes a handy candy cane holder.
10. Or hang it up on the Christmas tree and fill it with any other holiday items.
You now have a cute DIY decoration to make your home festive for the holidays.
