Happy Pig Day! An Elephant and Piggie Book by Mo Willems

Gerald and Piggie are best friends. On the most important day of the pig year, Gerald the elephant wants to join the fun but he doesn’t quite fit in with all the other pigs. Happy Pig Day! shares a lovable tale about true friendship and celebrating special occasions in life.

Mo Willems, a #1 New York Times best-selling author and illustrator, created Happy Pig Day!  as part of his Geisel Award-winning “Elephant and Piggie” series. The 64 page hardcover easy reader/picture book, published by Hyperion Books for Children (an imprint of Disney Book Group), was released last month.

Willems uses vocabulary that was vetted by an early-learning specialist to captivate beginning readers. His simple and clean illustrations grabs readers’ attention and at the same time emit Gerald and Piggie’s emotions.

The experienced author began his career on Sesame Street where he garnered six Emmy Awards. Willems has also won awards for his debut book Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!  The author-illustrator has also just released a first-ever book app based on this popular “Don’t Let the Pigeon” series.
