For my girls, Halloween is their favorite holiday after Christmas. They love Halloween so much that they watch spooky Halloween kids videos throughout the year. What do they love even more? Combining their favorite foods – hot dogs and pasta –  with Halloween to create spooky spiders that they can eat!

As such, the Halloween Hot Dog Pasta Spiders recipe was born. These cute appetizers are great for an afterschool snack or for a Halloween party. The recipe is super simple to make.

My girls helped and were so excited to create own little edible spiders. The hot dogs became the spider bodies, and the spaghetti noodles transformed into its legs. I had bun-length hot dogs on hand so I cut the hot dogs into 5 equal pieces. If you use regular-size hot dogs, you’d cut them into 4 equal pieces.

Make sure you have four legs on each side, just like real spiders. I snapped two strands in half to make four pieces. I then pushed the spaghetti strands all the way through the hot dog piece so that the hot dog spider body was in the center.

Next, I cooked the spiders and decorated them with eyes and a mouth by using mustard. If your kids prefer ketchup you can use that instead.

My girls had so much fun eating the savory Halloween treat they made!

Juicy Waters Bicultural Mama

The Halloween Hot Dog Pasta Spiders pairs well with the new Juicy Waters by Juicy Juice as it’s a great way to offset a bit of the sugar intake during the holiday. Juicy Waters is water with a splash of flavor. It’s a better-for-you option versus many of the other kids’ drinks in the market. Juicy Waters are organic and free of sugars, sweeteners, and high fructose corn syrup. My girls especially love the Strawberry Watermelon flavor.

Now go have fun making this at home yourself with the recipe below. Happy Halloween!

  3. Cook "spiders" in boiling water according to the pasta package directions.
  4. When finished, drain and place "spiders" on a plate or platter.

To prevent spaghetti strands from sticking to each other, place a few drops of olive oil into the boiling water.
