DIY Hand Cleaning Spray with Essential Oil
Whether you’re going back to school, heading to work, traveling, or just doing your daily routine, it’s always good to keep your hands clean. Germs are everywhere, and no one wants to get sick. It’s easy to make your own hand spray.
Make several, and carry one in your purse or pocket. Use it after going to a public area like the library or grocery store.
This recipe uses only a few ingredients. The spray uses a bit of aloe vera for moisturizing. It also uses dōTERRA On Guard essential oil which is a blend of Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade®essential oils (How to Get It).
There’s an option to include ethyl alcohol which the CDC has stated can be effective for hand sanitizing if it’s at least 60% content. You can find ethyl alcohol online as well as other ingredients like aloe vera gel and a spray bottle.
For the spray bottle, preferably get one that is a glass bottle in amber or blue color like these ones on Amazon. These bottles will help prevent the oil from breaking down when exposed to light. If you use plastic, just make sure it is high-density plastic so that the oils won’t leach the plastic.

I use dōTERRA essential oils because it’s the only brand I trust. Not all essential oils are of the same quality. Many contain harmful synthetic fillers. So make sure you know where your oils are sourced from, and if they’ve been tested for purity.
