Cover Reveal!

I’m excited to announce the cover reveal of my debut book It’s Chinese New Year, Curious George! Published by Clarion Books, an imprint of Harper Collins, It’s Chinese New Year, Curious George will be released on January 3, 2023.

It was such an exciting opportunity to write this book, as detailed in my announcement post on Bicultural Mama. Using both my personal experiences growing up in a Chinese household as well as conducting research, I wrote the book to teach children the traditions specific to celebrating the Chinese New Year.

I overlayed the story with the fun and mischievous personality of Curious George. The artist, Rea  Zhai, illustrated in the style of H.A. Rey, the creator of Curious George.

The board book includes 7 tabs that feature 7 “short stories” about the holiday. Though some people may associate board books with books for babies with only a few words on a page, this book is different.

My story has over 570 words, which is typical of the other Curious George tabbed books about holidays. The ability to use more words allowed me to go more in-depth about the symbolism and meaning behind the Chinese New Year traditions. Given this, I think the reading level of this book would be appropriate for kids from newborn to elementary school ages.
