Multicultural Children’s Book Day (MCBD) 2024 is in its 11th year, and I will be one of the co-hosts of this spectacular event! It’ll be my third year as a co-host to help promote the mission of this annual event.

Multicultural Children’s Book Day is run by Read Your World, a non-profit organization. Its mission is to raise awareness about children’s books that celebrate diversity and to get more of these books into the hands of readers. They do this by donating books to reviewers and classroom libraries. The organization also provides book lists and classroom kits to help parents, guardians, teachers, librarians, and readers find diverse children’s books. In addition, the organization spotlights children’s book creators with its weekly Instagram Live Interview series.

This non-profit children’s literacy initiative was founded by Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen, two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on multicultural books and authors. They worked hard to get those books to young readers and educators.

I’m a Co-Host!

As a co-host of Multicultural Children’s Book Day, I’ll be participating in the MCBD Read Your World Virtual Party which takes place on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 9 pm EST. This fun and fast-paced hour includes multicultural book discussions, addressing timely issues, diverse book recommendations, and reading ideas.

I’m a Reviewer, Too!

In addition to being a co-host, I’m also a reviewer for a diverse book. Soon, I will be reviewing the board book “Red Socks” written by Ellen Mayer and illustrated by Ying-Hwa Hu. I’ll be posting my review on my website. More to come on it soon, so stay tuned!
