My Book “It’s Chinese New Year, Curious George” Debuts in Winter 2023

Update: The release date of this book has moved from Fall 2022 to Winter 2023.

I’m so thrilled to announce my debut book, “It’s Chinese New Year, Curious George” My book, published by Clarion Books, will be coming out in Winter 2023 just in time for Chinese New Year in January 2023.

It’s “only” been 12 years in the making.

Ever since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to write a book. I just didn’t know how to go about doing it. Fast forward to 2009 after my first child was born. A chance meeting with a children’s author at a book reading was the catalyst for starting my book writing. I detailed this transformative moment in my blog post, “Pursuing My Goal to Write Children’s Books.”

Another pivotal moment took place in May 2020 when Lynnette Novak, a literary agent from The Seymour Agency, signed me on to represent my work. This opened doors to publishers, many of who would not even look at manuscripts unless an author had an agent. I write about this experience in my blog post, “My Lifelong Writing Journey to Publish Books.”

It’s been a long road to get to where I am today. Attending writing workshops and conferences has helped tremendously. For kidlit writers, I’d highly recommend joining SCBWI (Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators) which offers resources and classes to help writers learn more about their craft. I’d also suggest a lot of the 3 P’s: patience, persistence, and perseverance.
