Disclosure: I received a complimentary BurgerFi Beyond Burger to review at the Woodbury, NY restaurant. All opinions are my own.
If you’re like many people with New Year’s resolutions, one of your resolutions includes eating healthier. It’s easy to eat more healthy when making food at home, but it’s often much more challenging to find healthy food options when eating out. Restaurants may offer salads, but these more often than not don’t keep you full. Two hours later you’re craving a snack, and very often an unhealthy one.
BurgerFi, the environmentally-conscious restaurant chain known for its hormone-and-antibiotic-free 100% natural Angus beef burgers, offers a great solution with its vegan BurgerFi Beyond Burger. You don’t have to be a vegetarian or vegan to enjoy the BurgerFi Beyond Burger. It’s perfect for people like me who grew up eating meat but are now trying to eat healthier. Cutting down on the volume of meat I consume is not only better for my body, but is also something I’m drawn to for environmental and philosophical reasons.
The BurgerFi Beyond Burger makes eating healthier easy. It contains 100% plant-based protein that looks, cooks and satisfies like beef. The burger patty is only 290 calories. The color of the patty is red like beef with its color derived naturally from beets. The patty even changes color as you cook it, just like animal protein.
The BurgerFi Beyond Burger offers 20g of plant protein per serving with its primary source of protein coming from peas. It contains no GMOs, soy or gluten. Toppings include pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup and American cheese. The burger is 100% vegan, including the bun. For those looking to cut down on carbs, order it Green Style where it will come with crisp, hand-cut lettuce instead of a bun. The lettuce is cut into the shape of the bun, making it easy to hold just like its bun-version.
My BurgerFi Beyond Burger arrived and looked almost the same as a beef burger except that I ordered mine Green Style. The burger was juicy, moist, and tasty. Did it taste exactly like a beef burger? No, it did not, because it’s not beef. But it was still delicious, and I felt good knowing I was eating something healthy. After finishing the burger, I felt full and satisfied. I didn’t even need to eat many fries and ended up packing them up to take home. The burger didn’t feel heavy in my stomach, unlike with beef burgers where after consuming one I often feel overly-full and lethargic.
The BurgerFi Beyond Burger joins the popular VegeFi Burger which is a crispy quinoa pure-cut veggie burger with white cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and BurgerFi Sauce. The VegeFi Burger is vegetarian but not vegan like the Beyond Burger. Both offer a healthier alternative to traditional beef burgers. Try it Green Style for less carbs and more veggies in your meal. I highly recommend it!
