Book Launch Party!
The book launch party for my debut book, “It’s Chinese New Year, Curious George,” took place last Saturday. It was a huge success! Over 150 people filled the auditorium of Huntington Public Library. It was so wonderful to see family and friends from all parts of my life attend the event. My sister flew out from Michigan to help, and my friends Gina D. and Stephanie G. assisted with the photography. The Huntington Public Library staff stepped up to create an amazing event that ran smoothly. I am so grateful for the support from everyone!
The non-profit group, Friends of the Library, helped to sell copies of the book to guests as they waited to enter the auditorium. Once inside, children sat on the floor in front of the screen while adults sat in the rows of chairs that filled the room. Joanne Adams, Director of Huntington Public Library, introduced me to the audience.
I then went through a book reading and presentation that featured Chinese New Year traditions and the meanings behind them. I engaged with the children by asking questions about the book’s content and illustrations. The kids were great! They were so attentive and eager to participate. I loved hearing their cute answers to my questions.
After the presentation, activities commenced. Kid-friendly refreshments filled tummies hungry for a snack. The Art & Craft Room opened up for kids to do hands-on activities related to Chinese New Year and Curious George. They could color themed sheets, create their own lucky money red envelopes, and create a dragon puppet. The book signing took place, and I got to meet people from all over Long Island who came for the event.
My book launch party for “It’s Chinese New Year, Curious George” was everything I had imagined it to be. I couldn’t have asked for a better debut book launch, and I feel so blessed. Now that the launch has started, I’ve been super busy with doing interviews and school visits. It’s an exciting time, and thank you for your support!
