Happy Book Birthday! IT’S CHINESE NEW YEAR, CURIOUS GEORGE

Happy Book Birthday to my book It’s Chinese New Year, Curious George! My debut book changed my life for the better. I finally achieved my childhood dream of writing books, and it has been a long journey. It’s Chinese New Year, Curious George came into the world on January 3, 2023, via Clarion Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. Rea Zhai illustrated the book in the artistic style of the original Curious George creator, H.A. Rey.
I had an amazing book launch party at Huntington Public Library and spent many weeks doing interviews and other book promotions. I did author visits at schools and taught children about Chinese New Year and Lunar New Year. Throughout it all, I had a fabulous experience with lots of learning about book launches and marketing.
As I move into the new year, I’m excited to visit more schools and libraries to share my book. This year in the state of New York, the Lunar New Year is an official school holiday. As such, the children get the day off from school. I’m thrilled that kids will find my book even more relevant as they’ll be able to celebrate the holiday using the traditions mentioned in my story. Hopefully, by talking about my heritage, children will take the time to reflect on their own and find commonalities regarding family, food, traditions, and more.
Stay tuned for announcements regarding It’s Chinese New Year, Curious George. I have some exciting news coming up regarding events around Long Island. In the meantime, I’m celebrating my book birthday with lots of reflection and gratitude. Thank you to my family, friends, and readers for your continued support!
