Back to School Tips to Fuel Your Kids With Juicy Juice

Note: Thank you to Juicy Juice for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

During the summer, I love that we don’t have to rush. There’s no rush to wake up early in the morning, no rush heading out to activities, and no rush to prep meals. When it comes to meal prep, I have more time to think about what to make for the family and if its a balanced meal.

But once school starts, it like it’s an endless marathon of trying to check off my “To Do” list. Between shuttling the kids to after-school activities, helping with homework, and throwing together dinner, there’s often little time to think about healthy snacks and lunch prep for the kids. That’s when I turn to Juicy Juice for some better-for-you options.

After-School Snacks and Lunch Bag Prep

For after-school snacks, I try to keep things simple and healthy by offering fruit and a drink. Water is an ideal option, but sometimes my kids want to drink “something with taste.” The good news is that Juicy Juice has launched three new Juicy Juice beverages with nutritional benefits that I can turn to.

Juicy Waters is filtered water with a splash of flavor. Certified organic, Juicy Waters contains no added sugar, sweeteners, or high fructose corn syrup. It comes in three flavors: Orange, Fruit Punch, and Strawberry Watermelon. So when my kids complain they want “something with taste” beyond regular water, I hand them Juicy Waters.

I also like the new Fruitfuls Organic which is available in both 59 oz bottles and juice boxes. These organic drinks, available in Fruit Punch, Apple, and Grape, contain 45% less sugar versus leading juices. There’s no added sugar or high fructose corn syrup as well. The great thing is that my kids can’t tell there’s less sugar because it just tastes great. As a bonus, drinking 8 oz. is equivalent to a 1/2 cup of fruit. While its ideal for kids to get their 1-2 cups of fruit daily serving through whole fruits, Juicy Juice can help.

For my kids’ lunchboxes, I include a healthy sandwich, yogurt, and fruit like pre-sliced apples. I like to get the pre-packaged ones to save time. Plus the apple slices don’t brown like they would if I cut them up in the morning before school. For the drink, I give them Juicy Juice + Protein which includes 5 grams of whey protein in every pouch. The extra protein helps to keep my kids feeling full through the school day. It has no high fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners. It is, however, an excellent source of Vitamin C. Juicy Juice + Protein is available in Fruit Punch and Orange flavors.

Dinner Menu Planning

For dinner, I’ve found it helpful to put together a rough dinner meal plan for the week. On Sundays, I’ll make time to think about what main meals and side dishes to make. I try to include lean protein, vegetables, and whole grains. I also consider how to use the leftovers throughout the week.

Although I don’t always stick to the plan since things come up – and the kids don’t always eat what I make – it gives me a general guideline that I have the option to follow during busy weekdays.
